Description: | European refugees had been fleeing to Tangier, an international city, since 1938. Under Spanish occupation from June 1940, this became more difficult. After World War II, Tangier returned to international status. Jewish refugees, many stateless, came from different countries including Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Turkey. This list details monthly assistance provided to refugees by JDC in June 1946. |
