Description:The S.S. Nyassa made numerous trips from Europe to the West during World War II. JDC made arrangements for refugees to travel aboard the ship, providing full or partial funding for the tickets. The ship traveled from Lisbon and/or Casablanca to the United States, sometimes making additional stops in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Mexico. A special voyage, in January 1944, took refugees from Lisbon to Haifa.
